Thanks for your comment. I don’t think I’d remove any. Some of Dr. B’s choices don’t appeal to me, but they are surely outstanding books anyhow, and I’m glad to know about them. There are very few on his list I read but found not worth the read. (Of course I’m only 21% done.) My new list is some books he didn’t see fit to include that I think are up to his standard as well as some books published since 2006.
If you are able to add to the list, feel free to do so. I’m not quite sure how that works.

Wow
21% done is very good progress. I’m only at 10%. The reason I asked which ones you’d remove is that if you add all those it won’t be 1001. I understand that Dr Boxall is releasing a revised edition of the 1001 in April sometime. It will be interesting to see what gets added and what gets dropped.

My list is called the NEXT 1001. I want to finish all on Boxall’s list, then have another list of the ones he doesn’t have that also meet his standards. When I’m done (which I never will be, unless you and some other folks help out) we’ll have 2002 to choose from. Should keep us busy for the next few years. Maybe when Dr. B publishes his revised list, some of my choices will be on it.

I’ve added a lot more; check it out now. I may make it up to 1001 after all. Don’t see any entries by you yet. Any suggestions?

Better than nice
This is shaping up to be a great list. I’ve adopted it now and I’ll have a look at the detail soon.

Hey, I’m really having fun. What I’m doing now is entering the worthwhile books from my personal library. I’d be fascinated to see what you might add. Go for it!

Added
Books from 692 on. I have mainly used the thread on Library Thing, 1001 Books Before You Die: I can’t believe it’s not on there. See what you think.

I’m delighted to have your contributions to this list. You have added several books I’m unfamiliar with. I’ll have to check them out!
Two questions: RE the Cairo Trilogy. These are definitely on my must-read list. Would you object if I deleted your entry and re-entered each title separately? That way I could tick them off individually as I read them.
“Diamonds Are Forever”? I admit I’m a bit of a book snob, but isn’t Ian Fleming sort of disposable beach reading? Sort of like Nora Roberts?
Anyhow, good to have your suggestions.
Gerry
