Merivel's "Books I've Read in 2008"

The Pellinor Series is amazing! It’s in the vein of LOTR but Croggon does a wonderful job of creating her own unique world with creatures, characters and rules of it’s own. I’m having a very hard time waiting for the fourth and final book in the series to come out. It recently got delayed 6 months. Grrr…

Tasha Alexander’s series on Lady Emily are far and away the best historical fiction I have read in a good long time (and I tend to read a lot)! Emily is a moxie young widow with an interest in classic art and literature and a penchant for PI work. The characters are witty and charming yet remain true to the period. Alexander doesn’t skimp on the history either but she manages to weave it in the story seamlessly.
