If minor corrections are allowed, I’m afraid I missed it before but the film’s title is just the name of the heroine.

Fixed.

Corrections, minor or otherwise, are not only allowed, but greatly appreciated!

In this case, I’m sure it’s clear to you what happened: I was not familiar enough with this film so I translated the titular name of the protagonist (it does translate!). I’m glad someone who knows the film better could set me straight.

It’s amazing how many of these films you’ve seen!! Then again, I suppose you did have a cultural head start on most of us, but still—it’s impressive!

I actually thought my percentage would be greater than pitiful 29%. Haven’t taken the sheer number of silents present - the area where cultural background gives no advantage - into account.

It’s astonishing you knew what ‘Yarovaya’ means. There are quite a few native speakers who wouldn’t. It’s uncommon and used almost exclusively in connotation with wheat. I suspect it’s not even Slavic for it sounds similar to German “Jahr.”
