Hey Buddhalou,
Just saw this movie (the old one from the 50s, not the Nicole Kidman one). The main character as well as some other main characters struggle with alcohol abuse. The main guy actually ends up dying from an alcohol induced fall.

Right on...
...I’ve recently seen a few that I need to put up there as well. One of them is “Dead Man’s Shoes” and if you haven’t seen it, check it out. Powerful stuff.
