Wish there were more lists like this – to lead people to new, interesting books. Think I’m going to order a few of these titles today. I’d like to suggest that you read Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses – not as focused as Midnight’s Children, but so expansive and funny. Also, White Teeth by Zadie Smith, Black Album by Hanif Kureishi and Londonistan by what’s his face are also insightful reads, though they do deal more with how the two worlds of the UK and South Asia cling together. Cheers!
