OK, having seen the full thing I am truly impressed at the eclecticism. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one in the world who both:
1) Has heard of Heavy D. & HEAVY WEATHER
2) likes them both
I like that your collection includes both the “critical faves” and some stuff that probably catches you grief from friends. (I own that Partridge Family comp, too.) I too still listen to 2009 music but at the same time dig back toward the past. (Though not QUITE as far as you at this point…I don’t think any of my collection dates older than Carter Family or Bing Crosby from the 1920s.)

They may rib me a bit, but I’m the first to be called when a special song is needed for a special occasion OR music for a themed party. I hope you have a chance to check out those anthologies at the end of the list that have pre-’20s recordings. It gives you a taste of where the U.S.A. was then and that there really is “nothing new under the sun”.
