Also interesting that these are almost all American films. There’s a grip of ‘foreign’ movies that are way overrated, as well, but the film elitists seem to have a decidedly anti-American bias. Granted, I get that this is probably in reaction to a basic ignorance of ‘foreign’ films by the masses, and not just in America. If you look at worldwide box office numbers or popular opinion lists from any country, you’ll see the same flicks. In general, I think the hatred of a lot of these films is just the typical hipster elitist bulls**t that one finds in any medium. Popular doesn’t equal bad and art house (or ‘foreign’) doesn’t equal good. Of course, the flip side of that is true, as well.
