Only one Douglas Sirk film – and it’s not in color? Wow.
And where are all the sparkling screwball comedies … like oh, maybe “Libelled Lady” and “The Lady Eve”?

It’s the most amazing black and white cinematography. Really. Plus it’s a wide, wide frame (b&w Cinemascope!) so you cannot imagine how beautiful it is until you see it on a theater screen. The VHS, naturally, is panned and scanned and not really worth your time. Pray for a Criterion dvd.
