well that list was actually called “American Film Institute’s 100 funniest movies ever made.” not American films.

actually, it does say 100 funniest AMERICAN movies of all time. anyway, regardless of the fact that the writer was english, the main character was english, and the setting was in england, the production company was american – mgm… so maybe that’s why? and you know.. jamie lee curtis and kevin kline too.
