Pitchfork's "Top 100 Albums of the '90s [1999 version]"

Short answer: I’ll own up to making a mistake, I have located a copy of the original list (thank you, Internet Archive Wayback Machine), and I will restore it.

Longer, more defensive answer:

I thought at the time that if Pitchfork had updated their list and taken down all traces of their old list, they wouldn’t want the old version around representing their opinion any longer. So it made sense (in my head at the time) to bring the copy here up-to-date, as we do with other definitive lists that are more fluid (such as IMDb’s).

It also occurred to me that someone might have a problem with that. So I made a post here (as well as a comment on someone else’s post) asking if anyone would have any objections. Time passed, no objection was raised, so I went for it.

I can’t tell you why it didn’t occur to me to search for “Pitchfork” and see if someone had created a new list for the new version. It just didn’t.

But, as I said, I’ll own up to making a mistake, and I’ll rebuild the old list.
