However, is something like Betty Blue really more deserving of a spot than A Nous la Liberte or Pickpocket or Shoot the Piano Player or Le Beau Serge or Mon Oncle or dozens more classics not included here?!

I was trying for a representative mix, not an overload of older classics (some of which you mention- Le Beau Serge, Pickpocket, A Nous la Liberté- i weren’t really to my taste)

Fair enough. It's your list,

so if a chronological spread is an important criterion to you, I certainly won’t argue. And as for taste, that too is not to be disputed (Betty Blue, as you may have gathered, did not impress me).

At any rate, thanks again for this list and your many others: I have added probably all or almost all of your lists!
