Oceans & Seas of the World

Add to my lists | Print this list

Just seeing these isn’t enough… you have to at least "dipped your toe" in each for it to count as having been done… (ranked by size)

There are also some corners tucked away from the high wide oceans called simply "seas". The Japan Sea and The Caribbean are a good example. They are not lakes but hidden entities of salt water far from the "high seas"! The Black Sea and Caspian Seas are really lakes like Lake Michegan etc. or are they salty too, then is the Dead Sea to be listed. Should we call this list "Salty Waters of the Earth?" RR

Added more bodies of water listed on the map in the list source. Went to wikipedia entry for each body of water on the map and thus found some more (salty) bodies of water with the word sea/ocean/gulf as part of their name. Technically if a body of water doesn’t meet the strict definition of a “sea” or “ocean” then others may delete them. These were added to the end of the list and not ranked by size.
