This List Is Bulls--t — 2 years ago

...although I suppose that goes without saying.

I felt a bit unsure of proclaiming my disappointment over the exclusion of user-friendly (yet incredibly wonderful) entries like Dazed and Confused and Almost Famous until I saw that Meet the Fecking Parents had made the list. There are actually probably a large number of films I love dearly that didn’t make the list, so I shouldn’t look too closely.

I changed Olympia/Olympiad Berlin to Olympia (#116) as it is only the one film on the listsource.

I added a list of the films that have been removed from the book as it has gone through new editions.

updates — 2 years ago

The list has been updated to reflect the fourteen changes made to the last edition.
I updated the list source as well.

currency — 2 years ago

This is most definitely not the most recent version of this list. For further details, check http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm/content_id.26211/Movies

Maybe if I get ambitious, I’ll update this to reflect the current edition.

corrections — 2 years ago

I correct the versions for Ali Zaoua and for La Stanza del Figlio.

List is pretty good, especially on the early/foreign front — 2 years ago

I’ll go with John Hughes being missing, actually that entire genre (except for Breakfast Club) and pretty much the entire Brat Pack (St. Elmo’s Fire is an okay movie, I guess).

A lot of french movies from the 30’s-40’s that just aren’t fun to watch. Like at all.

If he were redoing it this year, I think you put in Sixteen Candles, The Original Japanese Godzilla movie (before it got tacky… and not the one where they put Raymond Burr into every shot). Also, Ghost in the Shell. Maybe Kurosawa’s Dreams. Or Waking Life.

But on the whole, you can’t fight with a list that heavy on Antonioni, Fellini, Truffaut, Herzog an the other European masters of the 50’s – 70’s. Or that much Asian film. Kurosawa and Ray both well repped. Nice.

Psycho — 3 years ago

The incorrect version of Psycho was listed, and it was getting on my nerves. I took the liberty of correcting it.
