Essential elements of men's style

Given modest means, limited closet space and a desire to combine quality, simplicity and good taste while embracing a love of fine things what are the indispensable elements of style for men?

1. find a hair cut that works for you  
2. buy only good shoes  
3. tip like a swell fellow  
4. pick up the check  
5. only buy clothing that fits well and is of good qualitiy  
6. Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses  
7. black turtle/poloneck sweater  
8. plain front, straight-leg trousers  
9. rent no clothing  
10. wear no more than one ring, on one finger. Silver or gold only.  
11. no earrings.  
12. canvas tennis shoes  
13. black silk knit tie  
14. own a navy suit  
15. white dress shirts, closely fitted  
16. several plain white t-shirts  
17. a couple plain black t-shirts  
18. If you're not sure ask a woman's opinion, but realize they are likely to be wrong  
19. plain front, staight leg khakis  
20. as a second suit: light-weight, single-brested solid grey with a slim cut  
21. plain low-rise, straight leg jeans  
22. brown, lace-up dress shoes  
23. white cotton pocket handkerchiefs  
24. light v-neck cashmere sweater  
25. vintage baseball glove  
26. outerwear appropriate to the season and occasion  
27. dress socks in black, grey and light brown  
28. blue button-down collar shirt  
29. white short-sleeved polo  
30. buy good quality but don't spend rediculous amounts  
31. a dog 3 people  
32. own a decent gym bag  
33. a vintage motorcycle you tune-up and maintain yourself  
34. a good shave  
35. never wear anything with a number, ostentatious logo or someone else's name unless you are being paid to.  
36. apply the following as much as possible: there is no hard and fast rule. period  
37. never wear nylon athletic wear - even to work out in  
38. sport jacket or blazer  
39. black cashmere/wool overcoat, for the winter and a fawn coloured raincoat for the spring
