Arahsae's "2007 Required Reading"

I started up a Required Reading List in 2006, when I had a mind-numbing job and wanted to keep my brain from melting. I read a lot, but wanted an extra framework to supplement my normal reading.

This year, I’m looking to cover some classic genre books: mystery, crime, western, romance, erotica, fantasy, adventure, science fiction, humor…what else?

1. Brideshead Revisited
by Evelyn Waugh

2. Childhood's End (Del Rey Impact)
by Arthur C. Clarke

3. The Count of Monte Cristo (Penguin Classics)
by Alexandre Dumas père

4. The Diary of a Nobody (Penguin Classics)
by George Grossmith

5. The Annotated Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions
by Edwin Abbott Abbott

6. The Maltese Falcon
by Dashiell Hammett

7. Night Of The Jabberwock
by Fredric Brown

8. The Postman Always Rings Twice
by James M. Cain

9. A Room with a View (Penguin Twentieth-Century Classics)
by E. M. Forster

10. Shane
by Jack Schaefer

11. A Spy in the House of Love (Penguin Modern Classics)
by Anais Nin

12. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Hesperus Classics)
by Robert Louis Stevenson
