Writer's Guild of America (WGA) Best Screenplay

Add to my lists | Print this list

Since 1949, the WGA has given out awards to films for their screenplays in multiple categories that have changed over the decades. Over the years, they have changed the awards the give – ranging from 2 to 5. They have generally bestowed the award on high quality films (no "Around the World in 80 Days" here).

Previous awards were given for Best Musical, Best Western, and Best Screenplay Dealing Most Ably with Problems of the American Scene. Currently they give the more familiar Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay, along with a Documentary Screenplay award (since 2005).

All winners from each year are listed.
