Up and down... — 1 year ago

We’ve been trying to trim our book collection down to what we really like. We’ve gotten rid of a bunch of books that we’ve read that we either don’t want to keep or that we want a better copy of. We just traded in a bunch of books to a used book store and came home with five books, only three of which are added to this list. Of the other two, one is a cookbook and the other is an art book.

My favorite used book store is closing... — 1 year ago

I went to trade in some books to get rid of them and ended up coming home with six new books. Seven including an art book. Got them all for $22, normally would have been around $80.

The list has been organized. — 2 years ago

I’ve added some new one’s that I’ve gotten and deleted off some that weren’t even worth my time to read.

I deleted a bunch of books that I've gotten rid of — 2 years ago

It dropped my completion percentage by 6%, but now the list is a lot cleaner. I still have to reorganize it, though.

I deleted a few... — 2 years ago

I deleted a few Ralph Steadman books that I have for art’s sake, not for literature’s sake. I have no real desire to read them cover to cover, so I removed them.

If you're going to read Orwell — 2 years ago

then you should start with Homage to Catalonia. It will help tremendously with understanding Animal Farm and a bit with 1984. It is the story of his adventures during the Spanish Civil War and how the Stalinists attempted to assassinate him. Powerful, true story. A close parallel is the movie Land and Freedom which is pretty hard to find, but ultimately worth watching.
