50 Greatest Documentaries

Add to my lists | Print this list

In 2005, Channel 4 conducted a poll to determine what the British public considered to be the 50 greatest documentary films. The final result was broadcast in October 2005.

— I stopped compiling the list as I found a number of the entries were television series and I didn’t want to pollute the AllConsuming database.

The trouble with such polls is it reflects the general public’s limited viewing (geographically and historically). Anyway, take a look at my list of recommended documentaries, which is far from definitive as there are plenty of good uns i’ve not seen and is only my personal taste.
