maggiem's "Revenge Films"Revenge films are one of my favorite subgenre of films. The plot is always simple: get back at those who’ve hurt you. Most of the films add a word of caution about becoming as evil as those you are hunting, like Bergman’s Virgin Spring. Other films are simply overblown celebrations of vengeance and virility, like Charles Bronson’s Death Wish series. Some movies on this list aren’t straight-up revenge films but are included because of the strong vengeance theme or moral (example: Wild Things, The Ox-Bow Incident). Any I missed? Please leave them in the comments! |
