Hong Kong Film Awards' 103 Best Chinese Films

March 15 2005: To celebrate one hundred years of Chinese cinema, Hong Kong Film Awards just release a list of The Best 100 Chinese Motion Pictures. 1948’s black and white classic Springtime in a Small Town by director Fei Mu is rank No. 1 on the list. Among 103 films on the list, there are 11 films from China (pre-1949), 13 films from the mainland China (post-1949), 61 films from Hong Kong (no surprise, since the list was prepare by Hong Kong filmmakers), 16 film from Taiwan (post-1949), 1 Hong Kong and the mainland China co-production and 1 Taiwan and Hong Kong co-production.

This is really hard because I only know of the names in Chinese and I don’t know whether or not I’ve watched them…the answer to most of them is a “maybe”.
