The Subjected Reader's "Chester Himes Bibliography"
Coffin Ed Johnson and Grave Digger Jones books are listed first (#1-9), then non-series novels, then his two-volume autobiography.
Note: Plan B was finished by Michel Fabre and Robert E. Skinner. Also, Yesterday Will Make You Cry was finished in 1937, published in 1952 as the highly-edited Cast the First Stone, then republished in its original form in the late 1990s. For Love of Imabelle/A Rage in Harlem is a slightly revised version of The Five-Cornered Square.
Alternate Titles:
A Rage in Harlem—> For Love of Imabelle, La Reine des Pommes, The Five-Cornered Square (not sure if it was ever published under this title…)
The Crazy Kill—> A Jealous Man Can’t Win
The Real Cool Killers—> If Trouble Was Money
Blind Man with a Pistol—> Hot Day, Hot Night
A Case for Rape—> Une Affaire de Viol
