Lookingglass Alice [1.17.07] — 3 years ago

i saw this last week, so some things are a little fuzzy. but we had AWESOME seets (mccarter). it was very cute, i loved it. it made me happy lol. the girl is such a talent, she was very engaging. she made me want to play this role of alice, like seriously this is a role i would LOVE to play.. minus the acrobatics lol. it was so “christain ely” so bold, and daring.. and BIG, and lively. i enjoyed it very very much. wouldn’t mind seeing it again. one thing that struck me well was the fact that they had an audience on both sides, front and back i was amazed at how well they fufilled each side of the audiences needs. very cute play, with very good messages. it made fun of life lol in general.. i could see something sooo deep from this children play. very good time, i still need to find that quote.. aboout the yarn being over you.. “perspective its all the way you look at it.”

Spring Awakening [1.1.07] — 3 years ago

amazing, pure amazing. amazing show, i had pretty sucky seats, but it didnt matter…. i saw everything just the same, and i would like to see it again.. on stage. amazing, pure amazement. amazing, i cant stop saying it. the plot, the music, beautiful. just beauty. the sex scene.. didnt make me uncomfortable… at first i was like oh boy.. unnessicary sex, but it had a meaning, a message, a point. this show was absolutley AMAZING. amazing dude. everyone could sing.. a lil on the rock side show, but… ummm.. the black girl lilli cooper.. she just wasnt doin it for me, she seemed like a singer/actor.. not an actor/singer.. you know? however the girl can SANG, but i do feel her part was left out a little… a lot of these kids are making their broadway debut, and doing it RIGHT! Jonathan grofff… his voice is amazing… lea michele.. ehh.. good vocals.. but her acting is questionable… the two characters that i just fuckin LOVED wherehanschen played by jonathan b wright, and moritz… who’s understudy actually played him. show was amazing, i could just totally relate. i loved it. and i MUST see this shit again dude, MUST! its A fuckig MAZING! i had a blast w/ monica and joe lol.. and the out of control dude. this is a show i must see once again. great way to start off the new year!

oh oh oh oh oh oh… i did have some critasisms…

the micraphones, i really hate the handheld mics, they totally take away from… my engagement. they need to get rid of them

and another thing, at first.. the whole germany thing didnt go with the music to me, but it grew on me

best show i’ve ever seen, without a doubt!

The Distance From Here, Neil Labute [12.1.06] — 3 years ago

So i saw this at the MSU theater day, and i must say this play is absolutely amazing, however i cant say the same thing about all of the acting.. christ! The two main boy characters stood out to me, but the other people needed some serious work. The fighting scene should have been …. dramatic.. quiet… intense, however turned into a slapstick comedy. their stage combat sucked, the audience WAS LAUGHING AT THEM! i mean.. wow. at first i was like, omg how can this audience be so disrespectful.. but than i realized its not their fault! if they found it to be funny.. they found it to be funny. it was NOT the audiences fault! the actors need some work man… seriously. but… the play had its moment. in the detention scene, i saw something i had never EVER seen before in a play.. ever. i saw a TRUE, GUTFUL, HONEST reaction… it was so amazing.. i cant remember the words but i saw something AMAZING. just honest… acting. for a SPLIT second. a SPLIT SECOND… it was amazing. so you could say i got a lot of this, and im glad i went. another thing that amazed me, was the fluidity of the speech. and how conversational they had made it, labute’s writing is so poetic, and they realllly got a GRIP on it. overall pretty good.
