Gideon Strauss's "Work emphasis by decade"
These are the main things I worked on and dream of working on, professionally, in each decade of my life – not the only things, of course. In my 20s I worked to finish my PhD, in my 30s I worked to understand the relationship between faith and work (and culture in the broadest sense), in my 40s I dream of helping to build several institutions, in my 50s I dream of working from within institutions to make some difference for Africa, in my 60s I dream of focusing on the mentoring of the next generations of cultural leaders, some of whom will by then be in their 40s themselves, some of whom will be younger, in my 70s I dream of drawing on what I have learned to write more than before, and in my 80s and after I hope to rest, enjoy creation, pray, and wait for the Messiah.
