Gardner Dozois' Recommended Science Fiction Short Story Collections

According to Dozois:
Like the novel list, this list of collections is again mostly orientated toward Old Stuff, stuff from before some vague date at the beginning of the ‘80s; in this list, however, I have listed some collections that are currently available in bookstores, feeling that these might be easier for readers to find—and, in some cases, like that of Cordwainer Smith, the current collection, if you can find it, pretty much contains within itself the several older collections listed, so you might as well buy the more recent edition.
