Crime Writers' Association's "Gold Dagger Award"
Initially titled the Crossed Red Herrings Award, this award was first presented in 1955. It was renamed the Gold Dagger in 1960. Between 1995 and 2002, the award was sponsored by Macallan, (a whisky distillery) and named The Macallan Gold Dagger.
This award was renamed the Duncan Lawrie Dagger in 2006. Non-English books were split off into a separate category, the Duncan Lawrie International Dagger.
