nojfotra's "Jonathan D. Gordon's 50 Best Movies of All Time"
These are not going to be the AFI Best Movies of all time.
But I put aside all of the pretension of " I have to put the Godfather and Citizen Kane on the List or people will think I don’t know movies" to make a list of the fifty movies I can watch nonstop and be entertained by. This means some genres of film are left out. I appreciate the classics and war movies and mob movies, I can’t however watch them over and over again.
I also don’t give credit to a movie because it simply did it first. That would be a list of the most influential movies. If someone took the idea of a classic and executed it better, possibly in the way the original creators wished they could I will list the best rendition of the film.
This list is ever changing, There are movies I haven’t seen. Movies Like Brick and 300 are very interesting to me, I think they may find their way on this list after I see them. I was surprised while putting together this list how many of the films were directed by actors. Also that there were little to no directors represented more than once. Also, No Stephen Speilberg. Though Kubrick, Fincher, Soderbergh, Scorsese, Mel Brooks and Ridley Scott do make the list.
