A listing of hardcovers that have sold 750,000 copies and paperbacks that have topped the one million copy mark over the years. Edited by Diane Roback and Jason Britton Compiled by Debbie Hochman Turvey (Publishers Weekly, 12/17/2001).

Note: These figures are based on sales in the US only, and the list only includes books published before the end 2000, when the list was compiled.

Goodnight Moon , Guess How Much I Love You, Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?, and Dr. Seuss’s ABC are on the list twice, one entry for the board book and one for the regular book.

1-189 are the bestselling hardcovers, 190- are bestselling paperbacks.
