Some have been having trouble finding “The Last Emperor.” Good news: It’s coming out on Criterion DVD in February 2008.

Now if I could just get my hands on the last 4…
The Last Emperor
Cavalcade
Wings
Sunrise
Someone had removed Sunrise (1928), American Beauty (1999), Chicago (2002), and Return of the King (2003) so I added them all back.

Interesting to go through the list…brings up memories of watching movies late at night when growing up, then going to the theater to see the more recent ones. Some of them I marked worth seeing partly because it’s good to be able to have an opinion about the awards and the films.

In 1927 there were two awards for best picture. Wings won for “Best Picture: Production” and Sunrise won for “Best Picture: Unique and Artistic Production.” Therefore I’ve added Sunrise to the list.

How could this movie beat Goodfellas? This almost makes me believe the Academy has something against Scorsese. There’s just no comparison.
