Eh — 2 years ago

I really shouldn’t have added this to my lists, because I have eaten most of the foods here, and won’t be eating most of them again, since I’m now vegetarian.
It not the best list anyway, especially living in the US.

Narrow minded list — 2 years ago

I agree with a girl who said, I eat most of these regularly. These are mostly North Amercian cuisine. Very dissapointing I must say.

What about African foods?

this is a narrow minded list! — 2 years ago

Obviosly this is a list created by brittish people who’s idea of cuisine is omelette and chips, scampi and chips or gammon and chips!

Of the things on this list that i would EVER eat (im vegetarian) I eat most of them on a regular basis.

can i make my own list?

Easy for an Aussie — 3 years ago

I know its a brit list – but it is easy as for aussies. Several items are australian – meat pie, moreton bay bugs, roo – which makes it easy.

Of the items I have eaten – I’ve had most of these in the last 6 weeks.

Only missing thing is lamington.

I've had most foods on the list. — 3 years ago

The most “exotic”, or least repeated meal I’ve had is Kangaroo. I’ve only tried it once, and I was on my honeymoon. It was a little medium-rare (not how I would normally eat meat), but I remember liking it. Dessert was a strange ice cream of some Australian spices, can’t remember exactly what spices, but it wasn’t very nice…not so much for the flavours used, but the texture of the ice cream was more like sorbet. It was very icy, and not very creamy. The oddest thing I had recently was honey and ginger flavoured ice cream. That was very nice.

this list reads like it was written by an english person. don’t get me wrong - i love a good steak and kidney pie like any other hungry meat-eating individual - but who hasn’t had lobster? maybe it’s me. nyc has spoiled me horribly foodwise.

it’s so difficult to get any decent food in the uk. and when i say decent, i mean “not greasy” i mean fresh vegetables and i also mean prepared with other seasonings besides salt and pepper and your basic yellow onion.

“A family tradition for us is to holiday in Kennack Sands, Cornwall. My father went with his family as a young child, then with us. The holiday was never the same without auntie’s freshly made pasties. Despite being a vegetarian, it’s the only thing I make an exception for!” Eleanor Thompson

I’d make an exception for cornish pasties too :)

Why 56? — 3 years ago

At the time of writing this, there are 56 items on the list of ‘50 things to eat’. The list is on the BBC website, why screw it up? Could someone clean it up?
