The Films of Josef von Sternberg
The films of one of cinema’s greats, Josef von Sternberg. On IMDb is listed many projects which Sternberg either began and was fired from or offered uncredited work. And, in the case of Macao and Jet Pilot, he was fired AND credited. I have decided to arbitrarily list the films where he was credited at having directed. Exception: von Sternberg’s I, Claudius, which is an unfinished work but as essential as any Sternberg film here.
Edit: The print of A Woman of the Sea starring Charlie Chaplin is lost. Chaplin’s widow burned the last print in the early 1990s. The 1928 and 1929 films The Dragnet and The Case of Lena Smith have been lost due to neglect. I have removed them from the list as the checklist cannot be completed by anyone with these listings.
