Jonathan Rosenbaum's 1000 Essential Films
From his book "Essential Cinema: On the Necessity of Film Canons" (2004).
Only this time, unless I’ve missed something, ‘Flaming Creatures’ does belong. He even writes a section on the film in “Essential Cinema” and I know it exists on the list in his book.

This is the most unique, frustrating, exhilerating film list I’ve ever seen. It’s great to see Rosenbaum’s quirks so evident. I knew he loved Feuillade, but I didn’t realize he loved him THAT much. And Spielberg’s 1941?
Thanks for putting up this list.
All respect to Rosenbaum,too.
I resorted the last few movies so that they were in the right order. Also identified one film that did not belong (“Flaming Creatures”) and one that was missing (“Lumière d’Etè”).
