The Best of 2005
- - Larry the Cable Guy – When it comes to signing autographs, Larry definitely gets ‘R’ Done. Larry not only happened to be the last guy I met of 2005, but also the friendliest and most personable of the bunch. Congrats Larry, you’re the best signer of 2005 on my list. (the full story is coming soon to the site)
- - Bowling For Soup – Going from the last celebrity I met in 2005 to the first, Bowling For Soup really started off the year for me on a high note. All of them are so great to their fans and spent a lot of extra time not only signing autographs, but hanging out with their fans as well. They may have an unusual band name, but the guys of Bowling for Soup are just regular guys who really value their fans.
- - Kimberly Locke – This American Idol star has the personality to match her voice. Kimberly was really busy working as a game show host, but she continually took time to meet the many fans there that day. Not even a camera malfunction could ruin this day, as we were able to get many autographs and photographs from the lovely Kimberly Locke.
- - Sum 41 – Neither a massive crowd nor venue security could discourage this band of rockers from taking care of every fan’s request. When a band ignores security guards requests to stop signing for fans, you know they are going to make my list! Without question this band truly gives back to their fans, whether it’s autographs or just a hug.
- - Bill Cosby – The biggest highlight of the year was getting to meet a comic legend like Bill Cosby. I would understand if someone of his stature was too big to sign autographs, but despite being in a mad rush, he not only signed for the both of us, but posed for a picture as well. Just for that alone, he deserves mention on this list. (the full story is coming soon to the site)
- - John Gulager – The very eccentric John Gulager proved to be an unforgettable encounter this year. While it was frustrating trying to find the right moment to meet Gulager throughout our many encounters with him, the end result was very rewarding. You are one of a kind John!
- - Green Day’s Mike Dirnt – Our trip to Colorado brought more than just a fun vacation, but an awesome autograph as well. Mike signed for all of the fans there and was friendly to everyone. Green Day has long been one of my favorite bands, so it was really awesome getting to meet someone who helped spark my love for music.
- - Ryanhood – This music duo was the opening band for #1 worst signer Jason Mraz. Unlike Mraz, they were both really friendly guys and signed and posed for pictures with any fan that walked up. Since they are still up and comers they know they need to give back to the fans for support, hopefully once they earn enough support they continue their generous ways… unlike headliner Jason Mraz. (the full story is coming soon to the site)
- - Jon Heder – In our most twisted nomination ever, Jon Heder has managed to make both our "Best" and "Worst" signer’s lists… confused yet? Jon Heder is Dr. Jekyll at one moment and Hyde in the other. If you read the full story you’ll see that he tried to sneak away from meeting his fans, but at the same time he was extremely nice when we did meet him. Heder signed for everyone and was very nice to boot. Too bad it took a fan roadblock to get him to stop and sign, which results in a double nomination for Napoleon Dynamite. We don’t know if this is even possible to nominate him in both categories, but we talked to the judges and they are allowing it.
Worst of 2005
Jason MrazJason Mraz was a rather sneaky fellow when he came to town in 2005. He gave most of his fans the slip by exiting through a side door in the building. Someone told us he snuck out through the side door so all of his fans ran over there, but he took off in a Jeep when he saw us coming over, sneaky, sneaky. Jason, your tricky tactics to avoid fans has just earned you my number one spot for worst signer of the year. His story will be added in the coming months.
Jon HederThis is a conflicting decision to put Napoleon Dynamite on this list… If you read the full story you’ll see that he tried to sneak away from meeting his fans, but at the same time he was extremely nice when we did meet him. He was nice enough to confusingly earn him a spot on the best signers list as well. Of course his fans did have to basically block off the road to stop his escape… so he does deserve to be placed here, despite his accommodating attitude when he did stop.
