i seem dense to you
because i was created from a doll and not a drawing

that’s why i desire you
like the sky
and why i’m so
suffocating in myself
paper light
and easily transferred
to light
and dolls left behind
mere toys

crucified scarecrows
create love
for future children
longing to be let down
to be with the insect
or the other way around

kali presents her left foot to yama
and siva retreats, throwing flowers
handing over swords and shrunken heads
and blood testing

yama bringing kali out of the realization of
imminent death
and into the realization
of imminent life
of the possibility, again
of more than the far end of the sword

Do you know it was foggy that day too
Walking away from me
You thought I might be too young
For someone
Not wanting to be just your temptress
From all your obligations and illnesses
