SF Chronicle Magazine's "Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants 2006"

Add to my lists | Print this list

This list is from the San Francisco Chronicle Magazine. The April 2, 2006 edition. The restaurants were chosen by Michael Bauer. Their definition of "Bay Area" is (IMO) questionable, several of these cities are not even around the Bay (which was what I always assumed was the very definition of "Bay Area") and are more than an hour away from San Francisco.

It includes write ups of the restaurants including types of cusine, approximate prices, parking dificulty, noise levels and other useful information.

Grasshopper is CLOSED! — 1 year ago

I’m so sad I hadn’t gotten a chance to go yet!

The reviews on yelp were middlin’ but “Asian Tapas”/fusion sounded pretty interesting.

Now I’ll never be able to finish this list! :(

Yes, there are 101 restaurants on this list.
In the published version of the list there are only 100.
On their website they list 101, the additional restaurant is: Dining Room, Ritz-Carlton

here’s the explanation on the website:
“The Dining Room of the Ritz-Carlton was omitted from this year’s Top 100 restaurants that appeared in the April 2 issue of the Chronicle Magazine. Because of the omission, this year’s list contains 101 restaurants. At this point, we’re not axing anyone from the 2006 list, but next year we’ll be back to 100.”
