This list is over six years old and I have the same problem with it now that I did then; it is written by smarmy people who assume they’re not being smarmy by removing “pretentious” music from their collection. As though music that’s the least bit challenging is only listened to by pretentious twats who only want to seem “cool.”

Daydream Nation fucked me. Do they understand that? It had sex with me, and no other album has ever done that. If you suggest I might want to remove it from my collection, I will kick you in the neck.

I don't get it. — 1 year ago

If you’re going to make a list with such a contentious title, you should at least attempt to elaborate a bit on why you feel so strongly.

Surprisingly I often agree — 2 years ago

I’ve heard 47 of these albums so far or 44% of the list. I’ve named 25 “worth consuming” with 22 of them either “Wishy-washy” or truly awful in my opinion. There really is something to the old saw that people buy things just to be VIEWED as “cool”. That or there’s a lot of people out there that really think Prince’s version of “La La Means I Love You” and “Betcha by Golly, Wow” are interesting. :P (See #36)
