theqissilent's "25 Best Albums of 2005"

Note: There were about forty really good albums I heard this year, but a virtual dearth of current/future masterworks and total failures. Therefore, there are probably no immediate classics in the bunch (though the top 3 or 4 could eventually make that claim with the passage of time), but there were a lot I had to leave off to coincide with the "25 theme" I’ve stuck with. Some of the closest misses include:

Gorillaz – "Demon Days"
Akron/Family – s/t
LCD Soundsystem – s/t
Kaiser Chiefs – "Employment"
Bruce Springsteen – "Devils & Dust"
The Mountain Goats – "The Sunset Tree"
Death Cab For Cutie – "Plans"
Hard-Fi – "Stars of CCTV"
Kasabian – s/t

Also, I lump both Bright Eyes albums together to count as one (the better of the two, "I’m Wide Awake…," gets credited) the same as I would for GNR’s "Use Your Illusion" albums and the pair of intertwined System of a Down records (which also just barely missed the cut this year).
