I sometimes pick up catering gigs in Los Angeles where I work as a waitress for private events. The pay is awful, the managers are jerks, the uniforms are ridiculous, and I don’t get reimbursed for travel. But sometimes I get to clear the tables of famous people, and that makes it all worthwhile.
