buddhalou69's "Addicts and Alcoholics"

Add to my lists | Print this list

Films about drugs and alcohol, drug addiction and alcoholism. Both active and in recovery. Some of them may be a bit of a stretch where inclusion on this list is concerned and some are more about use than recovery. I know there’s a lot of stuff missing as this is a topic that has been touched on in thousands of movies. If you’d like to see something added, I welcome any suggestions.

Moulin Rouge (old one) — 1 year ago

Hey Buddhalou,

Just saw this movie (the old one from the 50s, not the Nicole Kidman one). The main character as well as some other main characters struggle with alcohol abuse. The main guy actually ends up dying from an alcohol induced fall.

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay — 1 year ago

Salaam Bombay — 1 year ago

Hey Buddhalou,

I just saw Salaam Bombay and thought that it would be good for the list. The movie is about a foreign drama mostly about street children and brothels in Mumbai (Bombay). One of the characters, a drug dealer, has a serious heroin problem from which he eventually dies.

Mr. Untouchable — 1 year ago

Hey Buddhalou,

You might want to add Mr. Untouchable to the list. It is a documentary about Nicky Barnes, this heroin addict turned heroin pusher in 1970s Harlem.

Some Latin American Movies — 1 year ago

Hi Buddhalou, happy new year! I saw Rosario Tijeras (http://allconsuming.net/item/view/2797169) today about this assasin and it had quite a bit of drugs (cocaine, x, etc) in it.

Here are a couple of other latin american movies featuring the drug world

City of M (cocaine smuggling)http://allconsuming.net/item/asin/B0002S65M2

El Rey (cocaine kingpin)

Mr. Brooks — 1 year ago

Okay…so he’s addicted to killing, not drugs or alcohol, but he does go to meetings and says the serenity prayer at times. Not a comedy, but I had to laugh. Demi Moore almost didn’t ruin this movie…almost. I mean, William Hurt is a damn fine actor, but asking him to carry Costner and Moore both was just too much to expect from anyone.

Thanks! — 1 year ago

Spun and When A Man Loves A Woman were on the list but I went ahead and added Crackheads, Ray, Walk The Line, and City of God. Thanks for the suggestions…keep em’ coming.
