Shannon's "Contemporary (Mostly) Speculative Fiction: My Favorite Reads"
These are my favorite works by my favorite authors writing now or in the last few decades (since 1975). These works span a lot of genres: science fiction, fantasy, horror, suspense-thriller, literary fiction, mainstream fiction. They all share a profound ability to look at the world in a different way, to speculate on alternatives and possibilities, to be willing to examine the underside of human nature. They all write books that I can’t put down, that I want to read again, that impacted the way I think about life and my fellow humans.
