Movies of Fiction Based on Non-Fiction Books

Add to my lists | Print this list

The books on which these movies were based are non-narrative, non-fiction books, but the movies themselves are works of fiction illustrating points made in the books. In other words, each made a leap from a collection of facts and/or assertions into a movie with a story.

Note: This list does not include books that already tell a real-life story and that were adapted into a film version of the same story (e.g. Seabiscuit). Nor does it include films that became documentaries covering the same subjects as the books (e.g. Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room). Basically, if a film portrays events from real life, it probably doesn’t belong here.

If you want to add to this list, "Wikipedia’s list of films based on non-fiction books (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Films_based_on_non-fiction_books) may be a help, but most films there do not qualify.
