pianoker's "The list of unpretentious books that I have enjoyed, or pretentious list of books that I have unpretentiously enjoyed"

I like to pick my books more or less by accident. This way I have discovered many authors I would otherwise never have heard about. Sometimes these were classics that I should have found by going on the beaten path, but just as often I found gems that had escaped the attention of critics or the broad masses. Many of these books I have since sold or given away, so this will be a long, slow trip down memory lane.
