annabanana's "list of excellent kid's novels"
i’ve continued to love children’s novels (and kiddie picture books, truth be told) well into adulthood because in order to be good, they have to have all of the story elements and fine craftsmanship of an adult novel, without being able to rely on sensation to secure readership. the stories have to be engaging and not wander into wordiness. i may also like them because i am secretly nine.
