Fumphunt PickleSprinkles's "Excellent Biology Books"

Add to my lists | Print this list

This list started after one of my favorite professors in college sent me this link:

http://online.anu.edu.au/BoZo/jennions/books2read.html

I’ve since added more that I or other people think are truely excellent biology type books.

These are popular science books, they grab your attention and try to teach you something. Read these books if you want to increase your understanding of ecology or evolutionary biology.

comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I suggest — 4 years ago

Matt Ridley’s (he’s good, isn’t he?) The Agile Gene: How Nature Turns On Nurture. Also Sarah Blaffer Hrdy’s The Woman That Never Evolved and either (or both) Natalie Angier’s Woman: An Intimate Geography or The Beauty of the Beastly. The latter of Angier’s is a collection of essays on various topics-biochemistry and genetics, highlights of specific scientists, etc.

i've read a few of these — 5 years ago

did you not think the seven daughters of eve was good? I really liked it.
