jsherry's "200 Essential Fantasy and Science Fiction Novels/Series"

Add to my lists | Print this list

This is a list I pulled from somewhere on the internet a while back and it contains a list of 206 fantasy and science fiction series that are worth consuming. In the instances that only the first book of a series is included, please assume this to mean that the entire series is on the list.

This is a great list, I’m excited to work on it! But I don’t see Garth Nix’s ‘Abhorsen’ trilogy and James A. Owen’s ‘Here, There be Dragons’ series. They are both excellent and I really think they belong on this list.

what about... — 1 year ago

I think Tad Williams “Otherland” series should be listed here – talk about intricacy and imagination!

Nice list. My heart is all aflutter. But, Stanislaw Lem as well as Theodore Sturgeon should at least make an appearance.

just my opinion — 2 years ago

I don’t think I could make a list of top 20 sci-fi/fantasy without some L.E.Modesitt and some Peter F. Hamilton. I will be picking up several from here though. I always like to get new author recommendations, though that is getting harder.

if ‘the complete sherlock holmes’ is included in a fantasy/sci-fi list it seems like wilde’s ‘portrait of dorian grey’ and kafka’s ‘metamorphoses’ should be shoe-in’s. just my opinion.
