VERY interesting place. Great mix of old and new and very neighborhoody.

St. Louis — 1 year ago

Lived across the river from St. Louis in the 1970s and loved it. Few places like it. Was in the middle of reinventing itself. Much focus on downtown and the river front. Was under the arch for the Bicentennial in 1976.

Have not been there since the so called “Big Dig” was completed. Would like to see it now. Maybe the worst drivers on the planet. Maybe some of the best food.

Very impressive place. Was there this past fall for a conference. The place has much to offer. Very arts-oriented. Vibrant downtown.

I was there years ago on a magazine assignment and was very impressed by the city. Very clean. Strong sense of place.

Detroit — 1 year ago

I grew up just north of Detroit when it was a much different places at a much different time. I was 15 at the time of the riots and feel like that may have been the city’s defining moment. Right or wrong, it is how it became known. Sadly.
