Sony PlayStation RPGsThe era of the first Sony PlayStation (1995-2006) saw the release some of the best role-playing games in the history of video gaming. From the world-renowned Final Fantasy series to the cult classics of Star Ocean and Thousand Arms, the PS1 to this day still retains a vast library of quality RPG titles. Many fans and avid collectors are still attempting to complete their RPG collections long after production of the games has halted, causing the majority of titles to skyrocket in value on sites like eBay. Thanks to the backwards compatibility of the PS1’s successors – the PlayStation2 and PlayStation3, respectively – all of these games can still be enjoyed, and introduced to a younger generation of gamers who entered the gaming world a little too late to appreciate these titles. The following list comprises the RPGs for the PlayStation that have been released in North America (Japan exclusives are omitted). It was recreated from a previous list I created (the list type was wrong and didn’t allow for modification from outside), and it’s an "open" list, so if you have any additions you’d like to make, feel free to do so. |
