There are over 500 individual authors represtented in the book <i>1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die</i>, so this list is a way for me to keep track of how many authors’ works I have read—as opposed to how many individual works I have read.

One restriction: authors who I have read are not checked off unless I have read one of the works listed in the book.

If a book has more than one author, I have listed the first author listed. It’s not possible to cross reference here, so it’s the best solution I could come up with.
