MestnyiGeroi's "The Ten Worst Academy Award Best Picture Winners"

Add to my lists | Print this list

While this is not purely a matter of my personal preference (Gone with the Wind, for instance, is not my cup of tea, but I can at least see why it might deserve its Oscar), this list is nevertheless entirely subjective, of course.

This, to my mind, is the worst of the supposed best. These are really grouped in tiers:

1-3 (so close as to be practically a tie): Painful to watch.

4-7: Perhaps some merits here and there, but generally unpleasant to watch as well.

8-10: Not bad at all; just mediocre.

Not yet seen by me: Driving Miss Daisy, Million Dollar Baby

As I say, #1-3 are practically a tie to my mind, — 4 years ago

but I just caught some scenes of Titanic on television again, and the full excruciating power of the puerile writing came back to me, and so I was compelled to bump that film from #3 to #1 (which I had considered from the start, anyway).
