Anthony Burgess's "99 Novels: The Best in English Since 1939"

Add to my lists | Print this list

From the Anthony Burgess book of the same name.

In several cases, Burgess cheats by recommending a series. When the series is not available in a single book, I have listed the first book in the series, for instance "Dark Lantern" for "The Chronicles of Ancient Sunlight".

1939 - 1984 — 5 years ago

Great list! It makes me want to read Anthony Burgess’s book to enjoy his short reviews of the 99 novels that made his list.

If it matters to people, Burgess’s book was published in 1984, so the list is his 99 favorite books from the beginning of WWII up to 1984.
