Anthony Burgess's "99 Novels: The Best in English Since 1939"

In several cases, Burgess cheats by recommending a series. When the series is not available in a single book, I have listed the first book in the series, for instance "Dark Lantern" for "The Chronicles of Ancient Sunlight".
